Ponytail

Sunday, 18 May 2014: One Year and Forty Nine Days Old.

Ayla’s hair is finally long enough for a tiny ponytail!

Although I’d noticed Ayla’s hair had been getting in her eyes a bit, I hadn’t realised it was long enough to tie in a ponytail until one day this week when I picked Ayla up from day care and discovered her new ‘do.

Now when I say ponytail I really mean a wispy white tuft sticking up on the top of Ayla’s head, bound tightly by one of the smallest elastic hair bands I’ve ever seen!

The day care mums warned me that Ayla would pull her pony, and as soon as I touched it (I couldn’t resist) Ayla, true to form, reached for the tuft and yanked out the band before I could blink.

Ayla’s quick action meant I also managed to lose the hair tie so I could hardly wait to buy some today during our weekly grocery shop.

Within minutes of getting home from Coles I had found and opened the packet of hair ties, and created my own sticky-up tuff of blonde hair on the top of Ayla’s head.

I could hardly contain my excitement at realising we’ve now entered a whole new realm of cuteness where the possibilities are endless; clips, ribbons, elastics, scrunchies even!
