Ayla’s hair is finally long enough for a tiny ponytail!
Although I’d noticed Ayla’s hair had been getting in her eyes a bit, I hadn’t realised it was long enough to tie in a ponytail until one day this week when I picked Ayla up from day care and discovered her new ‘do.
Now when I say ponytail I really mean a wispy white tuft sticking up on the top of Ayla’s head, bound tightly by one of the smallest elastic hair bands I’ve ever seen!
The day care mums warned me that Ayla would pull her pony, and as soon as I touched it (I couldn’t resist) Ayla, true to form, reached for the tuft and yanked out the band before I could blink.
Ayla’s quick action meant I also managed to lose the hair tie so I could hardly wait to buy some today during our weekly grocery shop.
Within minutes of getting home from Coles I had found and opened the packet of hair ties, and created my own sticky-up tuff of blonde hair on the top of Ayla’s head.
I could hardly contain my excitement at realising we’ve now entered a whole new realm of cuteness where the possibilities are endless; clips, ribbons, elastics, scrunchies even!

How is it possible for Ayla to get even more cute every day?!
Each morning when Ayla wakes up it’s as if she’s become cuter overnight, and then when bedtime rolls around and I put her down to sleep I swear she’s cuter than she was that morning.
It’s a never ending cycle of cuteness and I can’t believe it’s so. Does every one feel like this with their babies?
Is it possible that Ayla might become simply too cute for me to handle and I’ll implode with delight?
Or will the cute-o-meter explode before I do and Ayla will become, dare I say it, ordinary?
Surely that could never be the case but Hubby and I have definitely won the ultimate lucky dip prize; Ayla is clever, friendly, easygoing, kind, funny AND adorably and irresistibly cute… Trifecta!… Twice!
PS – how adorable is Ayla in this pic!? She’s wearing a headband and leggings from Melbourne children’s designer Kapow Kids that we won in a Facebook competition.
When we went to music class today we were only there for five minutes before someone commented on how cute Ayla looked, so maybe it’s not just me after all!

I’m in love with Ayla’s toothy grin!!
Ayla now has four front teeth – two at the top and two at the bottom – and my happy little girl never misses an opportunity to flash them.
Most people I know only show their top teeth when they smile, but when Ayla decides to show the world she’s happy all four pearly whites are on display.
It melts my heart every time! When Ayla smiles she crinkles up her nose, her eyes slim down and she bares all her shiny white teeth as if she’s proud to be a big girl.
And a big girl she is! Ayla’s teeth have given her a much older appearance, and sometimes I swear she’s almost a toddler with the way she looks… and acts!
PS – if you haven’t already, please vote Ayla as the cutest baby in Australia and help her win a People’s Choice Award in the Bonds Australia Baby Photo Comp…. Thanks in advance!
